Firecrawl provides a context API for AI agents to search, crawl, scrape, and retrieve clean content from the live web and structured indexes at scale. Its platform handles crawling, rendering, parsing, and cleanup so teams don’t need to build their own extraction pipelines. The Alexandria layer unifies official data providers, custom connectors, and Firecrawl indexes with the live web, enabling agents to discover sources and pull knowledge, including paid access like Wikimedia Enterprise. The service supports scale to millions of users and funds deeper indexes, search capabilities, and knowledge-contributor payouts.

We raised a $75M Series B led by Smash Capital to build the knowledge library for superintelligence. Meet Alexandria.
US-based AI startup Firecrawl has raised $75 million in a Series B round led by Smash Capital. The round included participation from Altos, Nexus, Y Combinator, Freestyle, and Offline Ventures. Founded in 2024 by Brazilian Nicolas Silberstein Camara alongside Caleb Peffer and Eric Ciarla, Firecrawl develops open-source solutions for data extraction and processing. The company serves over 1.5 million developers and 150,000 companies globally, including Shopify, Apple, and Canva. The funding will accelerate expansion and develop Alexandria, a platform designed to aggregate knowledge from diverse sources for AI models and agents. Alexandria will compile scientific research, code repositories, government documents, and real-time data across multiple sectors including finance, e-commerce, and employment. The platform aims to provide compatible access via API, Model Context Protocol, or command-line interface across both open and proprietary AI models. This follows an earlier $15 million Series A round.
