  • Prior experience working in a medical office setting is desired but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls and transfer calls, enter messages in the electronic health record, or page doctors when appropriate.
  • Greet and arrive patients courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Check patients in and out and perform electronic health record tasking responsibilities.
  • Register existing and new patients, verify demographics and insurance, determine insurance copays, collect payments and copays, and post collected payments into IDX.
  • Retrieve phone lines from the answering service at the beginning of each day and transfer them back at the end of each day; verify that the transfer was completed correctly.
  • Schedule and reschedule clinic appointments using waiting lists, reminder lists, bump lists, and similar lists.
  • Work on and maintain the electronic medical record task list and assist with reports as needed.
  • Check the electronic medical record for referrals and authorization before visits or upon patient arrival.
  • Ensure all information and paperwork are scanned into the patient's chart.
  • Perform other front-office administrative duties as assigned.
  • Give directions to patients and visitors.
  • Maintain order in the reception room.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
