Molson Coors Q2 revenue meets estimates at $3.10B as operating margin drops to 10.7%

Molson Coors reported Q2 results that met revenue expectations at $3.10 billion but saw operating margin fall to 10.7% from 18.2% a year earlier. The brewer attributed the decline to soft demand, heightened competition, and cost inflation from elevated commodity and fuel prices. Revenue declined 3.3% year-on-year, whilst adjusted earnings per share of $1.58 beat analyst estimates. CEO Rahul Goyal noted that whilst the US beer industry faced challenges from shifting consumer behaviour and geopolitical uncertainty, the company's diversified brand portfolio helped mitigate some impacts. During the earnings call, analysts questioned management on factors ranging from World Cup impact and structural demand shifts to cost inflation and capital allocation strategy. The company emphasised continued focus on core brands like Coors Light and Miller Lite.
