Requirements
  • A Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor and CASAC certification are required.
  • At least two years of experience providing counseling and casework with at-risk youth is highly preferred; internships in this field will be considered.
  • Knowledge of trauma and mental health issues affecting multi-stressed youth and families is required.
  • Solid assessment, interviewing, and crisis intervention skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Experience documenting in an electronic medical record is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide initial evaluations using assessment tools such as the PHQ-9 and CRAAFT.
  • Provide individual and group counseling and psychoeducation, specializing in substance use, to youth experiencing homelessness and community clients.
  • Provide short-term crisis intervention, advocacy, and follow-up for the designated caseload.
  • Collaborate with Health Center, anti-human-trafficking, legal, and residential teams to provide wrap-around services for youth.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments, identify mental health, social, and emotional needs, make recommendations, provide referrals, and write summary reports.
  • Link clients seeking longer-term mental health and substance use support to community-based providers and communicate with referring agencies.
  • Become trained in and integrate evidence-based programs.
  • Provide consultation and training to Social Workers, Case Managers, and program staff regarding trauma, mental health, substance use, assessments, information, and referrals.
  • Meet regularly with the clinical supervisor to discuss concerns, reflect on practice and client needs, and carry out plans for young people.
  • Provide dotted-line CASAC supervisory support to the Integrated Behavioral Health Specialist.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for youth.
  • Document in required systems of record in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Bilingual ability.
  • Experience working in a homeless shelter, residential, or healthcare setting and knowledge of social service systems.

  • Experience utilizing evidence-based and other social service models.
