About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of experience in the commercial construction industry overseeing jobsite safety for ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and compliance standards, building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites 60–75% of the time; trips are short in duration.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to understand safety requirements and cautions and to respond effectively to questions and emergencies.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language or languages used in the workplace.
  • Strong leadership and business acumen, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, written and oral communication, and interpersonal abilities; commitment to excellence; flexibility with changing priorities.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, communicate, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules and regulations.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and recommend or coordinate corrective actions with the Safety Manager.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs covering general safe work practices and hazards unique to job assignments; train new employees.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of federal and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and websites, and keep current on safety codes and regulations.
  • Identify potential safety hazards at facilities and report hazards and recommendations for eliminating or reducing them to the Safety Manager.
  • Encourage employees and supervisors to report unsafe conditions immediately and schedule or coordinate repairs as soon as possible.
  • Encourage employees and supervisors to report all workplace injuries immediately, including minor cuts or strains.
  • Review Superintendent toolbox talks and confirm they are up to date.
  • Prepare and maintain required safety reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
