Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • The candidate must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the State of Michigan, or complete a state-approved training program within one month of hire and acquire certification within four months of hire as required by the state.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Employees must be vaccinated or have laboratory-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella, or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
  • Employees must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year they are hired and annually thereafter, or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
Responsibilities
  • Provide supportive services to nurses and other staff as needed and perform assigned duties.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living in accordance with care plans and established policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, and lifts.
  • Coordinate dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including setup, cleanup, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
  • Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provide assistance as necessary to ensure intake, documenting intake accordingly.
  • Assist with weighing residents according to facility policy, record weights in designated locations, and report weight changes to the nurse and supervisor.
  • Assist with tracking residents' skin condition and report pressure areas, skin breakdown, or skin tears to the nurse and supervisor.
  • Assist nursing staff with toileting program activities.
  • Complete daily flow sheets indicating that specified tasks were completed and document resident progress as directed by the supervisor.
  • Keep the nurse and supervisor informed of factors interfering with assigned work, such as resident refusal or reassignment to a nursing unit.
  • Report changes in residents' conditions to the resident's nurse and supervisor.
