Requirements
  • A minimum of eight years of full-time aerospace computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing programming experience.
  • A very strong aerospace precision metalworking background.
  • The ability to support a fast-paced programming schedule with high numerical-control programming accuracy and efficiency.
  • The ability to read customer-provided drawings.
  • Knowledge of G-code.
  • Experience operating portable measuring equipment.
  • A thorough understanding of machining processes.
  • The ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role, including occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds and work in a shop-office environment.
  • Eye and hearing protection may be necessary while working on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead computer numerical control technical advisor for the entire computer numerical control programming group.
  • Provide efficient programming templates for fellow programmers on critical programming projects.
  • Design and create numerical-control programs for large extrusion products.
  • Design and create numerical-control programs for large block hogout products.
  • Design and create numerical-control programs for forging and casting products.
  • Design and create numerical-control programs for forging and casting related tooling.
  • Design and create numerical-control programs for assembly related tooling.
  • Design and create numerical-control programs for three-axis, four-axis, and five-axis milling customer products.
  • Perform four-axis horizontal mill machining programming efficiently.
  • Perform five-axis mill machining programming efficiently.
  • Plan details of computer numerical control-related operations.
  • Provide accurate setup documentation.
  • Validate numerical-control programs before production use with verification software.
  • Approve and place numerical-control programs and setup information on the machine server for shop use.
  • Troubleshoot computer numerical control programming-related problems.
  • Participate in troubleshooting production-related problems.
  • Maintain master programming files.
  • Optimize feed rate and spindle revolutions per minute for cost effectiveness.
  • Integrate improved or new cutting-tool technology.
  • Participate in process improvement using lean manufacturing methods.
  • Propose feasible solutions for future overall process improvements.
