About the job
- A current, valid driver's license is required.
- A current Colorado DFPC Firefighter I certification is required.
- A valid Colorado EMS certification is required.
- The candidate must pass a physical fitness/stress test.
- The candidate must have two years of paid full-time firefighting experience, or a combination of three years of full-time, part-time, or volunteer firefighting experience within the last five years.
- Experience working with hazardous materials is required.
- Knowledge of fire response operations, emergency medical care, and firefighting equipment inspections is required.
- The role requires irregular or extended shift-work hours and the ability to work outdoors in varied climates, including extreme heat or cold.
- The employee may work at locations other than the assigned location.
- Respond to fires and on-site emergencies, including hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters, and other emergencies; conduct searches, suppress and extinguish fires, and perform related life- and property-protection duties.
- Provide basic emergency and medical care.
- Identify, isolate, and safely contain hazardous materials.
- Drive emergency vehicles and operate related apparatus in response to emergency calls and scenes.
- Participate in ongoing training and education sessions.
- Maintain the condition, maintenance, and appearance of apparatus and equipment, and prepare vehicles and apparatus for immediate response.
- A current Colorado DFPC Firefighter II certification is preferred.
- Experience with building and fire codes, modern fire principles, procedures, and equipment is preferred.
- Confined-space rescue training is preferred.
