Requirements
- A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in History is required.
- A Ph.D. in History with scholarship in a defined area is required.
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution is required.
- A record of academic research is required.
- The ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with frequent high levels of urgency or sensitivity is required.
- The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in a team environment is required.
- Strong written and oral interpersonal skills and sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings are required.
- Proficiency in Canvas and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach at least four undergraduate courses each semester.
- Assist in student advisement within the History Department, including course selection and career planning, and support orientation and students during other periods when classes are not in session.
- Respond to the needs and concerns of departmental faculty, administrative staff, and students in a respectful and professional manner.
- Engage students in the classroom and support them in fulfilling department and college-wide goals.
- Work closely with each student on multiple drafts of papers to improve writing skills.
- Create clear course descriptions and syllabi with achievable, evaluable goals.
- Evaluate student work with thoughtful comments and in a timely manner.
- Participate in professional conferences and/or publish work in academic journals to increase the visibility of Touro University.
