Requirements
  • Pharmacist licensed to practice pharmacy.
  • Experience in project management of pharmacy computer systems including Epic and Pyxis.
  • Knowledge of information systems and the medication-use process to improve patient care and ensure safe and effective medication use.
  • Understanding of pharmacy informatics systems and their impacts on other hospital systems.
  • Experience supporting the Meditech medication dictionary.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead projects assigned by the Director of Pharmacy including upgrading, evaluation, implementation, and quality assurance of pharmacy computer systems such as Epic and Pyxis.
  • Plan and implement the medication portion of interdisciplinary projects.
  • Assist in revising and updating organizational policies and procedures related to information systems and medication use.
  • Apply knowledge of information systems and the medication-use process to improve patient care by ensuring new technologies support safe and effective medication use.
  • Support the functions of the healthcare team in regards to the Meditech medication dictionary.
  • Manage technology and non-technology projects of the Department of Pharmacy.
  • Assist with the implementation of a point of care bedside verification system.
  • Manage daily controlled substance replenishment of Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units and anesthesia cabinets in the operating room.
  • Develop and maintain a system monitoring discrepancies for Pyxis ADCs on nursing units and Anesthesia ADCs; communicate with anesthesiologists and CNRA on discrepancies.
  • Identify and resolve system problems and procedures; differentiate between user education and system problems; work towards resolution.
  • Develop a system of monthly reviews by nursing supervisors and Director of Anesthesia to monitor possible drug diversion using RxAuditor reports.
  • Organize and maintain files related to Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee Meetings.
  • Develop graphic presentations and maintain quality assurance monitoring of pharmacy operations.
  • Provide education, training, and operational support to staff; share operational education beyond structured sessions.
