Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Interpersonal skills, including customer relations, grammar, reading, and organizational skills, are required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • CPI Certification is required and may be obtained within the first 90 days.
  • At least one year of prior Patient Care Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant experience is required.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, lift, balance, sit, kneel, hear, reach, pull, talk, see, turn, carry, push, handle, and write.
  • Must be able to reach above the head, push and pull 5 pounds, lift and carry up to 15 pounds, and lift from floor to waist level.
  • Must use appropriate protective measures when performing Category I tasks involving potential contact with blood, body fluids, or body tissues.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine technical clinical and clerical duties while assisting the Licensed Practical Nurse, Charge Nurse, or Nurse Manager in providing care to geriatric psychiatric patients in accordance with CMS regulations.
  • Frequently round on patients and observe and report their condition or response to treatment.
  • Provide personal hygiene assistance and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Collect patients' vital signs.
  • Assist with patient meals.
  • Aid in group therapy activities when needed.
  • Promptly attend work as scheduled and complete position responsibilities according to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients' medical conditions, personal problems, and medical records.
  • Assist under the direction of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Charge Nurse with patient intake, discharge, transfer, and transportation.
  • Document information in patient charts.
  • Provide assistance to patients.
  • Ensure patients participate in group therapy activities.
  • Perform 15-minute patient rounding.
  • Orient new employees.
