Assembly Technician
About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required; vocational or technical training is preferred.
- Experience in mechanical assembly within a production, low-volume, or specialty vehicle environment is required.
- Experience installing windshields and cab glass assemblies to original equipment manufacturer specifications is required.
- Proficiency reading assembly drawings, bills of materials, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing callouts, and work instructions is required.
- Ability to select and use torque wrenches to specified foot-pound or Newton-meter values and familiarity with torque audit procedures are required.
- Knowledge of urethane, silicone, or structural adhesives, including surface preparation and cure-time awareness, is required.
- Experience working within ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 quality management environments is required.
- Safe and accurate use of impact tools, drills, rivet guns, and hand tools in an assembly-line setting is required.
- Commitment to foreign object debris control, personal protective equipment compliance, and zero-defect quality standards is required.
- Ability to frequently lift or move items weighing over 50 pounds is required.
- The position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the shift.
- Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
- The candidate must be comfortable working around fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise.
- The candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Install windshields and cab glass assemblies, including sealing, bonding, and alignment to original equipment manufacturer specifications.
- Select and use manual and torque wrenches to specified foot-pound or Newton-meter values and execute torque audit procedures to verify fastener compliance.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, bills of materials, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing callouts, and work instructions to ensure build-to-print compliance.
- Perform end-of-line quality checks on completed assemblies, document non-conformances, and sign off on units according to applicable quality standards.
- Assemble cab, body, and chassis components in a production or low-volume vehicle environment.
- Apply urethane, silicone, and structural adhesives for glass bonding and sealing; prepare surfaces properly and observe required cure times.
- Work within ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 environments, complete build documentation, and maintain traceability records.
- Safely and accurately operate impact tools, drills, rivet guns, and hand tools in a structured assembly-line setting.
- Maintain foreign object debris control practices, follow personal protective equipment requirements, and uphold zero-defect quality standards.
- Vocational or technical training.
