Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and data analysis, are required.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned markets, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting complies with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports that support business decisions.
  • Hire, train, develop, and mentor a team of up to four Staff, Senior Staff, and Senior Staff II Accountants.
  • Build and continuously improve training documentation and onboarding processes for the team.
  • Monitor the team to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Review and approve journal entries, supporting documentation, and monthly reports, including dashboards, land bank billing accruals, housing work in progress, RENO, fixed asset schedules, and customer deposits.
  • Review and approve bank and balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of open items.
  • Prepare quarterly schedules and support broader financial reporting requirements.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and take on stretch assignments such as lot statistics, FIN 46, and land roll-forwards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • An active or inactive Certified Public Accountant license, or active pursuit of Certified Public Accountant certification.
  • Experience in homebuilding, construction, real estate development, or a related industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Experience with reconciliation and close management software such as FloQast.
