Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of five years of clinical experience in an acute care setting is required.
  • A minimum of two to three years of charge or management experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • A current New York State registration and license to practice as a Registered Nurse are required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and direct administrative activities within the hospital and the delivery of nursing care services.
  • Monitor and review staff work performance, inform nursing management of performance issues, facilitate counseling as directed, and provide input into performance appraisals.
  • Assess and analyze cost-effective utilization of hospital resources and make or recommend changes as needed.
  • Intervene in staffing and scheduling changes to maintain optimal staffing levels.
  • Serve as a resource to nursing personnel for problem identification and resolution.
  • Assist with implementing performance improvement plans initiated by the Nursing Department.
  • Ensure continuously that patients’ rights are upheld by staff.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities and ensure quality care is delivered on all units during a specific shift.
