Requirements
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge are required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Proficient English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension are required.
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office, are required.
  • Candidates must be able to pass drug screens, background checks, and driver checks.
  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Candidates must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays and respond to after-hours requests on an on-call basis.
  • Candidates must be able to work 12–16 hours straight while managing rest during time off.
  • Candidates must use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment and safely operate assigned equipment.
  • Candidates must read and edit technical drawings and complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Candidates must follow health, safety, environmental, regulatory, tariff, fatigue-program, and company procedures.
  • Candidates must actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain gathering-system compressor stations and natural gas facilities and equipment.
  • Disassemble, position, reassemble, and test moderate to highly complex equipment using manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
  • Clean, inspect, repair, and maintain natural gas engines, compressors, separators, generators, flares, dehydration equipment, vapor recovery units, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain structural, mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary equipment at natural gas facilities.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions during equipment disassembly, assembly, and test setup.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical tooling and equipment.
  • Overhaul compressors, engines, turbines, motors, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide training to company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Perform engine and compressor performance analysis.
  • Interpret lubricating-oil, coolant, and other operating reports.
  • Oversee and inspect construction or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Maintain and control suitable spare-parts inventory and tooling.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports, documentation, and filing paperwork.
  • Liaise with management and operations regarding regulatory compliance and outage and preventive-maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to equipment-repair and outage calls from on-duty personnel.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform cleanup associated with field operations and corrosion-control activities.
  • Communicate safety and environmental concerns to client supervisors and provide potential corrective-action solutions.
  • Follow and promote good housekeeping practices and maintain equipment and vehicles.
  • Demonstrate customer-service skills and support client reporting procedures for abnormal operations and safety or environmental conditions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining natural-gas compression equipment, including natural-gas engines, compressors, control panels, skid wiring and conduit, end devices, tubing, vessels, and coolers.
  • Knowledge of proper purging and loading practices and procedures.
  • Oil and gas industry background.
  • Knowledge of vendor-specific programs such as Caterpillar, Waukesha, Ariel, and Murphy.
  • Willingness to travel, with approximately 25% travel preferred.
