  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and passing scores on the appropriate Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments, or a current Arizona or other state teaching certificate.
  • One year of demonstrated teaching experience or an equivalent combination of training or experience meeting the minimum qualifications.
  • An Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and background and criminal history clearance.
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of classical curricula and learning, or willingness to learn the classical model of education.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy and methodology, or willingness to better understand it.
  • Working knowledge of AzM2 and how its data is measured.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Common Core Standards, also called Arizona College and Career Ready Standards, or willingness to learn them.
  • Knowledge of the Online Instructional Improvement and Instructional Effectiveness System with ATI.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Saxon Math program, or willingness to gain a greater understanding of it.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Shurley English language arts program covering grammar and composition, or willingness to learn it.
  • Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision-making.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for working with the school community, parents, scholars, administrators, instructional staff, and office support staff.
  • Strong commitment to supporting and safeguarding the principles of excellence in classical education.
  • Working knowledge of pedagogy, instructional methodology, and curriculum development.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making.
  • Create daily lesson plans and submit weekly lesson plans.
  • Participate in ongoing professional training sessions, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Meet with administration and the Professional Development team for instructional planning based on assessment data.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams of teachers to plan lessons and develop common unit assessments.
  • Establish and enforce rules and procedures for responsible scholar behavior and maintain classroom order.
  • Observe and evaluate scholars' academic performance, behavior, and social development.
  • Prepare classroom materials and instructional resources based on the classical model.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet scholars' varying needs and interests.
  • Plan and conduct balanced instructional activities using demonstration, questions, and work time to engage scholars in rigorous academic content.
  • Instruct scholars through whole-class, small-group, leveled-group, and individual instruction using techniques including EEI, Direct Instruction, Socratic Teaching, Cooperative Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, and Discovery Learning.
  • Notify the site administrator of special needs among scholars whose characteristics vary from the norm.
  • Work with the Special Education Instructor to support scholars with special needs.
  • Provide disabled scholars with assistive devices, supportive technology, and daily living skills.
  • Prepare and plan English Language Learner strategies for integrated classrooms under administrative guidance.
  • Prepare and develop curriculum maps under administrative guidance.
  • Establish lesson, unit, and project objectives and identify and communicate the standards to be taught.
  • Assign and grade classwork and homework and maintain scholar data books.
  • Read books to entire classes or small groups.
  • Prepare, administer, and analyze common unit assessments with grade-level teams to monitor scholar progress and achievement.
  • Prepare, administer, and analyze formative assessments and assignments to monitor scholar progress and achievement.
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, and administrators to resolve behavioral and academic problems.
  • Meet with parents or guardians to discuss scholars' academic progress and behavior and help guide them regarding priorities and resources.
  • Maintain accurate and complete scholar records as required by the school and applicable laws.
  • Prepare scholars for later grades by encouraging exploration of learning opportunities and perseverance with challenging tasks.
  • Guide and counsel scholars with social adjustment, academic problems, or special academic interests.
  • Prepare and implement interventions for scholars requiring extra help.
  • Prepare course objectives and outlines in accordance with state and school curriculum guidelines and requirements.
  • Provide materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in learning activities and imaginative play.
  • Enforce administrative policies and rules governing scholars.
  • Collaborate with grade-level faculty to plan and schedule lessons using approved curricula.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual scholars' needs and progress.
  • Use computers, audiovisual aids, equipment, and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop, evaluate, and revise elementary school programs.
  • Prepare reports on scholars and activities as required by administration.
  • Instruct and monitor scholars in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
  • Organize and lead activities that promote physical, mental, and social development, including games, arts and crafts, music, narration, and storytelling.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, guest-speaker visits, and other experiential activities and guide scholars in learning from them.
  • Organize and label materials and display scholars' work.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results with administration to determine scholar strengths and areas of need.
  • Involve parent volunteers in classroom activities to facilitate parent engagement.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.
  • Assist with hall and cafeteria monitoring and supervise scholar drop-off and pick-up.
  • Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, scholar organizations, and academic contests.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support collaboration among scholars, staff, parents, and the district.
