Mike Tedesco named new Executive Director of Arvada Economic Development Association.

Mike Tedesco named new Executive Director of Arvada Economic Development Association. Arvada, CO - The Arvada Economic Development Association (AEDA) is pleased to announce that Mike Tedesco has been named Executive Director. Tedesco comes to Arvada from the Pittsburgh area, where he has been leading economic development and municipal revitalization efforts in Crafton, Pennsylvania. "My first priorities as I launch with AEDA are to listen and learn from the board members, individual business owners, AEDA staff, and City leadership," said Tedesco. "Numerous plans and initiatives are already in place, and I sense an openness toward innovation. Those opportunities and conversations will emerge naturally as I settle into the position." Tedesco brings more than 20 years of experience in planning, project management and economic development, including time leading the revitalization of the riverwalk in another Front Range community, Pueblo. Over the course of his career, he has executed approximately $1.3 billion in public-private partnerships and business development initiatives. At AEDA, Tedesco will lead business attraction, expansion, and retention efforts for the City of Arvada, partnering with local businesses and support agencies to help build and maintain Arvada's thriving local economy. "Arvada already has all the tools in place - between the City, AEDA, AURA [Arvada Urban Renewal Authority], the BID [Olde Town Business Improvement District], and numerous partner agencies. This team has done the hard work of creating all these tools, so now the conversations can focus on meaningful results. I'm looking forward to collaborating with the larger team to help everyone succeed." Tedesco will also serve on the management team in the City of Arvada's Community and Economic Development Department as Economic Development Manager. "I'm thrilled that Mike is joining our innovative and collaborative team," said Jessica Garner, Director of Community and Economic Development. "One of the City's top priorities is, and will continue to be, supporting our business community, and having a dynamic leader in this position will help us continue and grow that work." In 2025, AEDA awarded more than $200,000 in grant funding for business improvements and helped welcome 126 net new businesses to Arvada. AEDA was reaccredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2024 and was the first IEDC-accredited economic development organization in Colorado. Tedesco joins a team of three, along with Senior Economic Development Managers Nancy Flock and Sarah Miley. About AEDA Founded in 1991, the Arvada Economic Development Association is a 501(c)(6) organization developed to help businesses grow and prosper in Arvada. Arvada earns spot on U.S. News and World Report's 'Best Places to Live' list for the first time.

Arvada earns spot on U.S. News and World Report's 'Best Places to Live' list for the first time. City ranks 247th nationally; 4th in Colorado. * rylee dunn * jun 8, 2026. For the first time since U.S. News and World Report began publishing its annual list of "Best Places to Live" in 2016, Arvada has earned a spot in the top 250, placing 247th nationally and fourth in Colorado. The list uses a methodology that includes a number of factors, such as affordability, quality of life, crime rates, weather, state infrastructure, job market, and culture and leisure, among other metrics. Overall, Arvada scored a 5.8 out of 10 in the U.S. News and World Report's index. The top-ranked city nationally, Carmel, Ind., scored a 7.2 out of 10. The only Colorado cities to place ahead of Arvada in this year's rankings were Parker (which scored a 6.4), Centennial (which scored a 6.2), and Castle Rock (which scored a 6.1). Denver ranked as the 15th best place to live in Colorado, despite topping the inaugural list in 2016. Arvada Mayor Lauren Simpson said she was thrilled to see Arvada on the rankings for the first time. "I'm not surprised at all that Arvada is on the list," Simpson said. This is just the rest of the world catching up with what we already know: Arvada is amazing! To be serious, though, I'm really proud to see our community recognized in this way. US News evaluates a variety of factors - from public amenities to air quality and everything in between - to make these rankings. "Our high scores in areas like public safety, economic opportunity and desirability reflect the hard work of countless folks committed to this community," Simpson continued. "In today's political atmosphere, it's pretty easy to focus on everything that's wrong. This is a good reminder to sit back and also remember everything that's right: and Arvada being a great place to live is absolutely right." Visit Arvada Executive Director Jean Gordon said that the ranking reflects the feedback she often gets from visitors who are coming to Arvada for the first time. "Being named one of the nation's top places is exciting, but the real story is the people, businesses, and community that make Arvada feel so welcoming day in and day out," Gordon said. Gordon said that aside from being a great place to live, Arvada is also a great place to vacation. "The best compliment we hear from visitors is, 'I had no idea Arvada had all of this.'" Gordon said. "Arvada has that sweet spot travelers are looking for right now: authentic local businesses, great food and drink, easy access to outdoor adventure, and a welcoming community feel. It's Colorado without the rush." The city also ranked 510th on U.S. News and World Report's list of Best Places to Retire. The publication listed the city's population at 122,796, the average commute time at 23 minutes, the median home value at $636,280, and the median household income at $119,079. The median monthly rent is listed at $1,757.

Arvada celebrates 40th annual Arbor Day with help from Foster Dual Language students.

Arvada celebrates 40th annual Arbor Day with help from Foster Dual Language students. May 20 2026 Students from Foster Dual Language PK-8 recently brought their teamwork and community spirit to a major city milestone! On Monday, May 18, students and staff joined forces with the City of Arvada's Parks Department and Forestry Team for Arvada's 40th annual Arbor Day tree planting celebration. This local tradition brings schools and city government together to invest in the future of our local environment. The fifth-grade team gathered at Columbine Park (6710 W. 53rd Ave.) to work side-by-side with City forestry experts. Learning about urban forestry firsthand, the students successfully planted 12 new trees that will enhance the park's natural beauty, provide shade, and improve air quality for generations of park visitors to enjoy. Arvada's annual Arbor Day tree planting celebration is a key step in helping the city secure its Tree City USA designation for the 35th year in a row. It also marked the sixth consecutive year Arvada has earned the Tree City USA Growth Award for its exceptional dedication to urban forest management. We are incredibly proud of our students for rolling up their sleeves and helping our community grow!

Arvada smart irrigation rebate.

Arvada smart irrigation rebate. The "rate hike" Defense. Arvada Water Rates Are Up 11%: How a Smart Controller Pays for Itself by July If you've seen your 2026 Arvada utility bill, you know the "Tier 1" rate has officially climbed to $6.50 per 1,000 gallons. For a typical family, that means summer watering just got significantly more expensive. But you don't have to choose between a brown lawn and a high bill. The Smart Controller Advantage Most Arvada homes still use "dumb" timers that water during the rain. By switching to a smart system like a Rachio 3 or Orbit B-hyve, you can automatically skip watering during those sudden afternoon showers over Ralston Creek. * The Arvada Perk: Arvada partners with Resource Central to offer deeply discounted smart controllers (often as low as $97-$122 for a $500+ value). * The "Early Bird" Catch: These spots are first-come, first-served and open in March 2026. Why Hire Us Instead of Doing It Yourself? * Waste" Programming: We program your system to comply with Arvada's efficiency guidelines, to help keep you in "Tier 1" pricing. * The Audit: Allcitysprinklers perform a leak check during the install - because a smart controller can't fix a cracked pipe in your backyard.
