Requirements
  • Expertise in data center networking, including rack installations, routers, switches, VLANs, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting Layer 1–3 network issues in a large-scale production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting IP transport and transmission networks and transceivers.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and troubleshoot a globally distributed data center network, including routing and switching devices.
  • Perform fault isolation and resolution for Layer 1–3 network issues.
  • Own escalated cases from Tier 1 engineers and drive them to resolution.
  • Manage and escalate critical events while communicating with stakeholders.
  • Support network circuit and hardware troubleshooting, including patch panels, optics, and cabling.
  • Detect and diagnose error and failure conditions across various network device types.
  • Provide hands-on support for network incidents and collaborate with engineering teams when required.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for data center network repair issues.
  • Serve as the escalation point of contact during business hours for troubleshooting, tooling, and process issues.
  • Coordinate with data center facilities teams on maintenance activities affecting network infrastructure.
  • Own incident response processes, including escalations to higher-level support teams when necessary.
  • Respond to major network incidents and support SEV initiation and resolution processes.
  • Monitor data center network infrastructure ticket queues and respond to alerts accurately and promptly.
  • Track and document incident resolution steps in ticketing systems.
  • Identify and resolve network performance issues and optimize existing configurations.
  • Develop and maintain network change documentation, including VLAN, subnet, and DNS modifications.
  • Create and maintain monitors, alerts, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency.
  • Provide feedback on recurring network issues and refine troubleshooting procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Support network optimization, capacity planning, and scaling initiatives.
  • Document and optimize operational processes and procedures.
  • Follow Return Merchandise Authorization processes and coordinate with vendors for hardware replacements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation with audit and asset management teams.
  • Monitor tickets for adherence to service-level agreements and prompt issue resolution.

Cognizant acquires Astreya to scale AI infrastructure amid $6.7T data centre buildout

Cognizant has agreed to acquire Astreya, a global AI-first IT managed services provider based in San Jose, California, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction, expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, will expand Cognizant's AI infrastructure capabilities and strengthen its position as an "AI builder". Founded in 2001 and operating across over 35 countries, Astreya provides managed services to six of the "Magnificent Seven" hyperscalers. Its proprietary AI OpsHub platform and expertise in designing and managing AI infrastructure across the full value chain will complement Cognizant's existing capabilities. The acquisition comes amid a projected $6.7 trillion AI data centre infrastructure buildout between 2025 and 2030, with the five largest hyperscalers expected to spend nearly $700 billion on infrastructure in 2026 alone.

The deal is expected to strengthen Cognizant's AI infrastructure capabilities, as companies ramp up spending on the technology that is reshaping industries. The deal, expected to close in the second quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approvals, is likely to be announced on Wednesday. Cognizant has benefited from enterprise clients accelerating AI integration and automation as they migrate workloads to the cloud. The company has expanded partnerships with Microsoft and AI startup Anthropic to stay ahead of rivals in a highly competitive industry. "By acquiring Astreya and its proprietary AI tooling and production-grade infrastructure platform, which is complementary to Cognizant's AI builder stack, we will be even better-positioned to help clients architect their platform-led AI systems and operationalise them at scale," Chief Executive Ravi Kumar S said.
