Requirements
  • The candidate must have two years of experience or a diploma in chemistry.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; assistance from another employee or lifting equipment is mandatory for loads exceeding 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to control the chemical reactions of a fire assay.
  • The candidate must know all safety rules and promote workplace safety.
  • The candidate must be able to prepare and present information in an orderly and instructive manner.
Responsibilities
  • The technician mixes flux and samples, performs fusions, and carries out cupellation.
  • The technician performs all FA2 tasks.
  • Under supervision and with the FT2, the technician ensures and coordinates production and work-team activities to achieve production, quality, and health and safety results.
  • The technician applies products and methods correctly and in accordance with requirements.
  • The technician mixes difficult samples such as carbonates and concentrates.
  • The technician performs cupellation.
  • The technician handles dosing.
  • The technician assesses the quality of work functions.
  • The technician begins selecting reanalyses.
  • The technician performs other tasks assigned by the director, assistant director, or supervisors.
Desired Qualifications
  • English communication skills are an asset.
  • Experience preparing samples for fire assays or knowledge of geology is an asset.
  • The candidate should be highly motivated, autonomous, and able to work in a team.
  • The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
