Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work is required.
  • One to three years of demonstrated clinical experience in substance use and/or mental health treatment or shelter experience is preferred.
  • New York State LMSW or LCSW licensure is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of New York City's diverse network of medical and behavioral health care organizations, including substance use disorder treatment services, education and employment services, and non-traditional community support groups is required.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an electronic health record system, is required.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds is required.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and mental health evaluations.
  • Conduct individual, couples, group, and family counseling consistent with client treatment plans; make referrals for appropriate levels of care; and document SOAP notes and counseling sessions.
  • Conduct mental health and substance use screenings for adults and adolescents ages 12–17 and developmental screenings for children ages 0–5 at Family sites, making appropriate referrals based on screening results.
  • Provide crisis intervention until the crisis has been stabilized.
  • Participate in incident follow-ups as needed.
  • Conduct psychosocial and family assessments, including psychosocial assessments for supportive housing, as needed.
  • Assist families with barriers to service and make appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client records in compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures.
  • Comply with 42 CFR confidentiality, HIPAA privacy, and security regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison to community agencies and organizations and foster professional linkages with community service providers and referral sources.
  • Design and facilitate specialized therapeutic groups based on client and program needs.
