Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in transit operations, dispatch, field supervision, scheduling, rostering, or a closely related operational environment.
  • Experience independently managing road supervision and vehicle operator responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Mobile Data Terminal and Automatic Vehicle Location systems.
  • Experience responding to operational emergencies, safety incidents, and complex service situations.
  • Experience coaching, evaluating, or training employees.
  • A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement.
  • Strong knowledge of transit dispatch, scheduling, rostering, and field operations.
  • Ability to manage daily operations with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Mobile Data Terminal, Automatic Vehicle Location, and related transit technology.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to make timely decisions during emergencies and service disruptions.
  • Ability to investigate incidents, document findings, and recommend corrective action.
  • Ability to conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive coaching.
  • Strong training, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and operational documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining professional and composed under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily transit operations to support safe, reliable, and efficient service.
  • Lead scheduling and rostering activities with minimal oversight, adjusting assignments to address staffing levels, service demands, and operational changes.
  • Manage complex dispatch situations, including service interruptions, operator concerns, customer complaints, and emergency events.
  • Operate the base radio console and communicate routine and emergency information to vehicle operators.
  • Troubleshoot Mobile Data Terminal and Automatic Vehicle Location system issues to minimize service disruptions.
  • Perform road supervision and vehicle operator responsibilities independently.
  • Monitor vehicle operators’ adherence to safety requirements, operating procedures, schedules, and radio protocols.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, service concerns, and safety-related issues.
  • Coordinate emergency responses and maintain communication with Transit Operations Management.
  • Adjust routes, schedules, and vehicle assignments in response to emergencies, road conditions, staffing shortages, and other operational challenges.
  • Conduct behind-the-wheel evaluations and provide retraining or coaching to vehicle operators.
  • Conduct vehicle operator performance reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Administer routine corrective or disciplinary action under the direction of Operations Management.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, provide transit information, assist with trip scheduling, and resolve escalated service concerns.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, including logs, reports, statistical information, and I-Reporter documentation.
  • Recommend corrective actions and operational improvements based on identified service or safety concerns.
  • Provide guidance and support to vehicle operators regarding safety practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with the Operations Supervisor I and Operations Supervisor II levels.
  • Perform fieldwork for road supervision, accident response, and service support.
  • Provide rotating weekend coverage, one overnight shift approximately every four months to retrieve bus fare, and occasional evening or emergency coverage as needed.
