  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Entry on Duty suitability is required.
  • At least 8 years of direct relevant experience in cyber defense analysis using leading-edge technologies and industry-standard cyber defense tools is required.
  • Experience successfully developing and deploying signatures is required.
  • Experience detecting host- and network-based intrusions using intrusion detection technologies such as Snort is required.
  • Experience implementing incident-handling methodologies is required.
  • Experience implementing protocol analyzers is required.
  • Experience collecting data from a variety of cyber defense resources is required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting signatures such as Snort signatures is required.
  • Experience performing packet-level analysis is required.
  • Experience conducting trend analysis is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, or a related degree is required, or a high school diploma with 10 years of network investigations experience.
  • One or more of the following professional certifications is required: GNFA, GCIH, GCIA, GSEC, CASP+, CySA+, PaLMS, FedVTE, GSEC (SANS401), ArcSight or another SIEM solution, Network+, or Security+.
Responsibilities
  • Characterize and analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to network resources.
  • Coordinate with enterprise-wide cyber defense staff to validate network alerts.
  • Document and escalate incidents, including event history, status, and potential impact, for further action.
  • Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.
  • Perform event correlation using information gathered from multiple enterprise sources to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness of an observed attack.
  • Provide daily summary reports of network events and activity relevant to cyber defense practices.
  • Receive and analyze network alerts from various enterprise sources and determine possible causes of alerts.
  • Provide timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks, intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities, distinguishing these incidents and events from benign activities.
  • Use cyber defense tools for continual monitoring and analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity.
  • Analyze identified malicious activity to determine exploited weaknesses, exploitation methods, and effects on systems and information.
  • Identify and analyze anomalies in network traffic using metadata.
  • Validate intrusion detection system alerts against network traffic using packet analysis tools.
  • Identify applications and operating systems of network devices based on network traffic.
  • Reconstruct malicious attacks or activities based on network traffic.
  • Identify network-mapping and operating-system fingerprinting activities.
  • Assist in constructing signatures for implementation on cyber defense network tools in response to new or observed threats within the network environment or enclave.

Nightwing, an intelligence solutions company, has partnered with ProCustom Group to launch rugged laptops with integrated cybersecurity solutions. The new portfolio features PCG's customised commercial off-the-shelf rugged devices pre-installed with Nightwing's Boot Shield and Electronic Armor technologies. The integrated platform combines rugged notebooks with Intel AI-enabled processors, hot-swappable batteries and sunlight-readable displays alongside Nightwing's cyber resiliency tools. Boot Shield prevents boot-level attacks and firmware code injections, whilst Electronic Armor protects sensitive applications and data. The partnership aims to deliver secure computing solutions for mission-critical operations in extreme environments. The upcoming product range will include ruggedised laptops from 11 to 16 inches with customisable configurations. ProCustom Group specialises in environmental and electromagnetic hardening of ruggedised technology for military and aerospace applications.
