Requirements
  • Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
  • Acceptance of newly graduated licensed occupational therapists.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification obtained within the past 12 months.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide community visits to assess the abilities and needs of individuals.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team consisting of healthcare workers and other community resources.
  • Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement issues.
  • Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect a client-centered approach related to the physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environment.
  • Use effective, evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
  • Engage clients through a collaborative approach, build rapport and trust, and achieve mutual understanding and agreement regarding services to be provided.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective service across all areas of practice by keeping current with changes in the practice setting that affect scope of practice.
  • Maintain professional client records regarding client encounters and plans in compliance with ParaMed policies and the standards of the regulatory body or Occupational Therapy college.

  • ADP authorization.
