Industrials down 12.1% in six months: one stock to watch, AGCO and Allient to avoid

Industrials stocks have lost 12.1% over the past six months, while the S&P 500 returned 6.8%, as investors price in a prolonged downturn. Stock research site StockStory names one industrials stock to watch and two to avoid. It would avoid AGCO, a $7.43 billion agricultural machinery maker. Sales were flat over five years, earnings per share fell, and returns on capital shrank. The stock trades at $106.10, or 16.7x forward earnings. It is also wary of Allient, a $1.49 billion motion-control maker. Sales were flat for two years, and its free cash flow margin averaged 4.5% over five years. The shares trade at $87.77, or 28.1x forward earnings. Its pick is Douglas Dynamics, a $918.5 million snow and ice equipment maker. Revenue grew 10.4% annually over two years, and earnings per share rose 43.6% annually. The stock trades at $39.79, or 12.6x forward earnings.

Massey Ferguson unveils baler chute that cuts bale collection passes by up to 50%

AGCO has introduced a hydraulic singulation chute for its Massey Ferguson SB.1436DB small square baler, which it showed at the 2026 Farm Progress Show. The chute places two bales into a single straight row, cutting bale collection passes by up to 50%. The baler makes two 14-by-18-inch bales at a time. As they leave the chamber, the hydraulic system pushes one bale forward, then the second. Adjustable paddles handle different bale lengths. The chute needs only one extra hydraulic hose from the tractor. A patent-pending trailing design with caster wheels and suspension lets it float over uneven terrain. Raising and locking the chute gives access for maintenance and secures it for transport.

AGCO to deploy Agility Digit humanoid in Kansas factory.

AGCO to deploy Agility Digit humanoid in Kansas factory. The news comes as Agility inches closer to its IPO via SPAC and after it announced the latest version of Digit. Source: Agility Robotics AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to deploy Agility's Digit humanoid in AGCO's manufacturing facility. The U.S. pilot, expected to begin in 2027, will support AGCO's efforts to create more flexible, intelligent factories, beginning at its production site in Hesston, Kan. "This strategic relationship views humanoid robotics and AI as essential 'teammates' in building flexible, intelligent factories," stated Thomas Enghof, director of manufacturing technology at AGCO. "They unlock automation in complex, human-centric workflows, augmenting human capabilities by absorbing repetitive, strenuous or hazardous tasks. By pairing human ingenuity with robust robotic engineering and strict safety governance, we create resilient manufacturing systems that empower the workforce and deliver measurable business value." AGCO said it is a global leader in agricultural machinery and precision agriculture technologies. The Duluth, Ga.-based company's brands include Fendt, Massey Ferguson, PTx, and Valtra. AGCO said its high-performance equipment and smart farming systems, including brand-agnostic retrofit technologies and autonomous offerings, "empower farmers to drive productivity while sustainably feeding the world." AGCO joins a growing list of Digit deployments. Digit uses AI to continuously learn and adapt to evolving workflows, enabling greater operational flexibility and improved productivity, according to Agility. When paired with the Agility Arc cloud-based platform for deploying and managing robot fleets, companies can rapidly integrate automation into essential operations without requiring extensive infrastructure changes or costly facility upgrades, it added. AGCO joins a growing number of global leading companies deploying Agility's humanoid robots, including Toyota, GXO Logistics, and Schaeffler. "We're excited to work alongside AGCO as they continue to lead the way in agricultural innovation," said Daniel Diez, chief business officer of Agility. "By introducing Agility's Digit humanoid robots into AGCO's operations, we have an opportunity to strengthen manufacturing processes, support employees in demanding tasks, and demonstrate how advanced robotics can create measurable impact across modern production environments." Agility is on the move. Agility said its humanoid robot will initially support key assembly and production operations including sorting and stacking parts sorting, as well as intelligent placement of totes for storage. The physical AI company asserted that Digit will enhance ergonomic safety, improve operational efficiency, and empower employees to focus on higher-value, skill-driven work that advances innovation and productivity. It has been a busy time for Agility Robotics. Last month, the company unveiled the latest version of its robot, Digit 5. The latest version of Digit includes new legs, upgraded batteries, and a more comprehensive safety architecture. The Salem, Ore.-based company also recently confirmed that it is exploring building wheeled robots for its customers. Agility is preparing to become a public company through its previously announced merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI. The business combination is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the combined company will operate as Agility Robotics and is expected to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "AGLT."
