- Current licensure as a registered nurse in Alabama or through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
- Certification in the area of expertise is preferred.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or Trauma Nurse Core Course certification may be required based on the assigned patient population.
- Superior clinical and critical-thinking skills for the assigned unit or department.
- Knowledge of the Professional Practice Model and evidence-based nursing practice.
- Lead shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure high-quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow.
- Manage staffing assignments for oncoming and off-going shifts based on patient acuity and team-member skill sets.
- Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners.
- Monitor the overall status of patients and closely monitor seriously ill patients.
- Coordinate and participate in patient care while ensuring compliance with physician orders, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Provide resources and support to frontline team members and providers.
- Support clinical collaboration focused on expected patient length of stay.
- Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Conduct Nurse Leader rounds and investigate and respond to patient, family, and physician complaints.
- Participate in or lead safety huddles.
- Assess equipment needs and ensure staff have the equipment and skills needed for patient care.
- Support and sustain leader-driven initiatives.
- Assist with retention strategies for new team members.
- Maintain a regulatory-ready environment of care.
- Allocate and adjust staff assignments, assign meal breaks, and provide relief for team members as indicated.
- Use fiscal-management skills and financial resources in decision-making.
- Attend leadership huddles and assist with new nursing and clinical initiatives.
- Foster positive multidisciplinary partnerships through collegial collaboration.
- Coach and mentor the nursing team.
- Promote a safe working environment and support or coordinate follow-up related to workplace-violence occurrences.
- Serve as a clinical expert and liaison to ensure care aligns with Baptist Health policies and procedures.
- Collect unit or department information through audits to identify improvement opportunities and trends.
- Promote high-quality nursing practice supported by evidence-based practice, research, organizational standards, and national standards.
- Maintain regular attendance and compliance with Baptist Health policies and applicable standards.
- Acute-care registered nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
- Certification in the area of expertise.
