About the job

Requirements
  • Experience breaking down work processes, creating manuals or procedures, or improving systems through PDCA.
  • Ability to verbalize and quantify actions and convert them into reproducible steps through logical and structured thinking.
  • Background in at least one of the following: production/process management or quality assurance, including factory, manufacturing, or logistics work involving line efficiency, process design, standard work, or improvement activities such as 5S and Kaizen; or IT programming/system engineering, including algorithm design, specification writing, debugging, and iterative corrections.
  • Native-level Japanese for articulating complex procedures, creating manuals, and coordinating smoothly with teams.
  • Basic English ability is not required, but a strong willingness to learn is expected because text communication with overseas engineers may occur.
Responsibilities
  • Break robot tasks such as grasping, moving, placing, and assembling into the smallest practical action steps that operators can execute consistently.
  • Analyze operator results and error rates, identify bottlenecks, and repeatedly adjust task designs to maximize collected-data quality and efficiency.
  • Document task execution procedures clearly and build manuals that enable consistent data quality regardless of who operates the system.
  • Coordinate closely with teleoperation managers and AI engineers, gather input on required data and practical operating conditions, and incorporate it into task designs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of robotics, mechatronics, or artificial intelligence.
  • Technical writing experience or experience creating and operating large-scale work manuals.
  • Comfort with data analysis, including aggregating logs or performing statistical analysis using Excel or Python.
  • Interest in creating systems in environments without established rules, such as startups or new-business launch phases.

About the company

AI Robot Association is best understood as an open research association working on foundation models for robotics. Researchers and engineers build datasets, training systems, evaluation methods, and embodied artificial-intelligence software. Its initiative brings together motion data, vision-language-action research, model development, and humanoid-robot experimentation. Roles may span machine learning, robotics, data engineering, simulation, infrastructure, research operations, and partnerships. The entity has a limited public footprint, so the profile stays close to its official research and recruiting materials.

What believers are saying

  • On 2026-08-03, AIRoA released 5,000 hours of robot motion data and a foundation model.
  • On 2026-08-04, it consolidated at a 3,500 m² Heiwajima facility, signaling execution.
  • Its 2026-02-10 ICRA workshop and RSJ 2026 talks widen partner demand and visibility.

What critics are saying

  • AIRoA depends on public programs like NEDO and GENIAC, exposing it to budget cuts.
  • Open-data coordination among members can stall, while DeepMind and NVIDIA race ahead.
  • If members stop contributing data, AIRoA’s ecosystem model loses scale and relevance quickly.

What makes AI Robot Association unique

  • AIRoA launched in 2024 as Japan’s open robot-data consortium, not a single vendor.
  • It combines academia, industry, and METI-NEDO-backed projects around robot foundation models.
  • Its Heiwajima hub centralizes R&D and corporate functions across Tokyo, Miraikan, and Kyoto.
