AbbVie tees up brain health campaign with PGA TOUR.

AbbVie tees up brain health campaign with PGA TOUR. Key summary: * AbbVie has become the official pharmaceutical sponsor of the US's PGA TOUR. * Birdies for Brain Health will fund organisations supporting brain health patients. * Golfer Gary Woodland will help raise awareness through his personal brain health story. AbbVie has been named the official pharmaceutical sponsor of the PGA TOUR and 2026 Presidents Cup, as the drugmaker launches a new campaign to raise awareness and support for people living with brain health conditions. The multi-year partnership will see AbbVie roll out its 'Birdies for Brain Health' campaign, which will use professional golf to generate donations for patient advocacy organisations working across migraine, mental health conditions and Parkinson's disease. The campaign will debut at the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club in Illinois, close to AbbVie's global headquarters in North Chicago. Turning birdies into brain health support. To mark the launch, AbbVie will make a donation recognising the more than one in three people globally affected by a neurological disorder, with funds shared between six patient organisations. These include the American Migraine Foundation, National Headache Foundation, Mental Health America, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and Parkinson's Foundation. From 2027, the initiative will expand across PGA TOUR Signature Events and the FedExCup Playoffs, with AbbVie making donations for every birdie scored. The partnership comes as AbbVie continues to strengthen its presence in neuroscience, where its portfolio spans psychiatry, migraine and pain, movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Just last week, the company announced the successful phase 3 trial of its menstrual migraine preventative drug, atogepant. Tracie Haas, Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, AbbVie, said neurological and mental health conditions can have an impact extending beyond patients to their families and wider support networks. "Through our partnership with the PGA TOUR, we have a unique opportunity to elevate patient and care partner voices, support patient advocacy organisations and raise awareness of the critical need for continued research, innovation and care," she said. Gary Woodland joins campaign. AbbVie will also work with professional golfer Gary Woodland, 2019 US Open champion and one of the US captain's assistants for the 2026 Presidents Cup, to promote the campaign through storytelling and engagement. Woodland underwent surgery in 2023 to remove a benign brain lesion and has since spoken publicly about the physical, mental and emotional challenges he experienced during his recovery. "My experience has shown me how important awareness, support and a strong community can be when someone is facing a health challenge," Woodland said. He added that the campaign offers an opportunity to use golf's platform to support organisations advancing science and patient advocacy. The partnership represents a new route for AbbVie to connect its neuroscience ambitions with patient advocacy, while tapping into the PGA TOUR's global audience to broaden conversations around brain health. AbbVie shifts focus from declining Humira to $8B Skyrizi and Rinvoq growth engines

AbbVie has dramatically shifted its focus away from Humira, its once-flagship drug now facing biosimilar competition. On the company's July 2026 earnings call, Humira received just one sentence, noting global sales of $706 million, down 36.1% operationally but in line with expectations. This marks a stark change from previous quarters when management detailed the reasons behind Humira's decline, including biosimilar competition and molecule compression in the US market. AbbVie now emphasises growth drivers instead. Skyrizi generated $5.5 billion in Q2 2026, whilst Rinvoq exceeded $2.5 billion, both growing above 20% operationally. The company also acquired Apogee Therapeutics in September 2026. Despite the reduced attention, Humira still contributes approximately 4% of AbbVie's quarterly revenue of nearly $17 billion, though management no longer publicly projects its ultimate decline trajectory.
