Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • A New York State Occupational Therapy License must be obtained within one year of hire.
  • A Limited Permit is required under the New York State Act for Occupational Therapists.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate clinical skills consistent with their education, training, and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients whose injury, disease, or loss of body part interferes with daily functioning.
  • Plan and provide treatment programs for patients.
  • Provide skilled intervention using techniques appropriate to achieving identified goals.
  • Provide occupational therapy services in adult acute care, including inpatient orthopedics, neurology/neurosurgery, medicine, cardiac, intensive care, and oncology areas.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy is preferred.
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certification is preferred.
  • Certified Lymphedema Therapist certification is preferred.
  • AOTA membership is preferred.
  • Two years of working experience in a hospital-based acute care setting is preferred.
  • Experience with post-surgical spine, stroke, and medical/surgical populations is preferred.
