Responsibilities
  • Oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Manage and develop Engineering Leads and Project Engineers supporting utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system projects, including resource planning, workload balancing, and performance reviews.
  • Support team development plans and provide mentorship and training to enhance technical knowledge, leadership skills, and ownership among team members.
  • Mentor junior engineers to ensure consistent application of technical guidelines, design optimization techniques, compliance processes, and company standards.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance engineering efficiency, design standardization, and process automation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, product innovations, and regulatory changes affecting solar and energy storage systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely and efficient execution of engineering deliverables.
  • Facilitate project kickoffs with clients, engineers of record, and authorities having jurisdiction as needed.
  • Manage engineering inputs to procurement packages, requests for information, construction drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Oversee the engineering aspects of utility-scale solar projects from project award through closeout, ensuring adherence to design reviews, procurement milestones, and construction deadlines.
  • Ensure engineers of record designs comply with authorities having jurisdiction, codes and regulations, utility interconnection standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure team adherence to quality assurance processes and engineering best practices, and support field operations in delivering project engineering work on time, within budget, and to construction standards.
  • Provide final review of engineers of record subcontracts and change orders for compliance with project requirements and budget.
  • Support preconstruction teams in owner contract negotiations.
  • Update project engineering timelines to forecast resources for new projects and facilitate balanced team workloads.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication in weekly coordination calls between engineers of record and owners; review requests for information, engineering deliverable schedule shifts, and submittals, and address design clarifications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist the Schedule Manager in creating and updating project engineering deliverable dates.
  • Serve as the engineering point of contact for clients, utilities, independent engineers, and permitting agencies.
  • Address project-level escalations among engineers of record, project management, owners, and authorities having jurisdiction by providing solutions to technical challenges.
  • Interface with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the engineering team in project meetings, client presentations, utility interconnection discussions, and permitting hearings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading battery energy storage system engineering, procurement, and construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus.
