Requirements
  • A Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.
  • Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency plus at least three years of hospital practice, completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency (Infectious Diseases preferred), or at least five years of hospital clinical practice experience is required.
  • Eligibility for Florida pharmacy licensure is required.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Infectious Diseases physicians and multidisciplinary teams to optimize antimicrobial therapy for complex hospitalized patients.
  • Perform prospective audit and feedback activities, including review of bloodstream infections, antimicrobial stewardship worklists, restricted antimicrobial utilization, broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, HIV/antiretroviral therapy, and other targeted stewardship initiatives.
  • Participate in Infectious Diseases Consult Service rounds with ID attendings and fellows, providing evidence-based recommendations regarding antimicrobial initiation, optimization, de-escalation, duration of therapy, and diagnostic stewardship.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, protocols, clinical pathways, order sets, guidelines, and quality improvement projects.
  • Analyze antimicrobial utilization and resistance data, participate in developing annual antibiograms, and identify opportunities to improve clinical outcomes and antimicrobial utilization.
  • Collaborate with Infection Prevention, Microbiology, Sepsis, Quality, and Clinical Operations teams on system-wide initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes and reducing antimicrobial resistance.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary and corporate committees, including antimicrobial stewardship, medication-use, infection prevention, microbiology, sepsis, and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a mentor and infectious diseases resource for a growing decentralized clinical pharmacy staff.
  • Precept pharmacy residents and students in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship learning experiences.
  • Participate in clinical research, medication-use evaluations, and scholarly activities related to infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Provide education to pharmacists, physicians, nurses, residents, fellows, and students.
Desired Qualifications
  • Board Certification in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy (BCIDP) is preferred, or eligibility with a commitment to obtain certification.
  • Completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in Infectious Diseases is preferred.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging. The facility offers advanced treatments including bispecific therapies and clinical trial participation, with plans to expand outpatient cell therapy programmes.
