Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical and visual inspection.
  • Experience with personal computer navigation and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized work habits.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliability.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and perform first article inspection activities for effective design transfer, utilizing basic and advanced measurement equipment and ensuring manufactured products are traceable to documented standards.
  • Audit production jobs by conducting in-process inspections on the floor and reviewing related documentation.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to improve mechanical inspection competency and compliance with inspection frequencies, process controls, and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and programming issues with the company’s measuring equipment and related software.
  • Ensure the group’s gages are in good condition, accurately maintained in the GageTrak database, and calibrated at required intervals according to National Institute of Standards and Technology standards.
  • Procure gages as required and train production associates on the use of GageTrak.
  • Support engineering and management with root cause analysis of customer rejections and internal quality failures.
  • Participate in implementing corrective actions and provide training as needed.
  • Perform and accurately document first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Sustain housekeeping and 5S efforts in the inspection areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on measuring equipment such as comparators and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Actively participate on the Quality Control team by recommending, developing, and implementing process improvements, standardization, and related documentation.
  • Comply with company policies, safety guidelines, quality system procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of related experience and/or training in mechanical and visual inspection, preferably within a regulated industry.
  • Experience using standard measuring tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, probes, coordinate measuring machines, and comparators.
