Requirements
  • A major in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of commodity cost drivers, the supply base, and strategic supplier management, with an understanding of material cost drivers.
  • Zero to three years of sourcing experience with Commodity Management experience.
  • Skills in supplier development and management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Oracle, and office software, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in English at a business level.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry quality requirements is preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver work on time.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with global counterparts.
Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic sourcing plans to guide the team’s sourcing activities for the Americas.
  • Negotiate supplier terms and conditions for purchase contracts.
  • Analyze commodity markets and provide budget and savings plans to top management.
  • Establish a regional supplier base in the Americas and ensure supplier operations comply with IATF 16949 and ISO 9000.
  • Lead supplier benchmarking activities to guide SCS sourcing, including benchmarking other Johnson Electric global sites.
  • Consolidate the regional supplier base for assigned commodities.
  • Work with global counterparts to leverage common suppliers, benchmark pricing, and align costs across regions.
  • Use global suppliers when appropriate to optimize landed cost, lead time, and quality.
  • Drive design for sourcing and manufacturing throughout the New Product Development Process.
  • Expedite materials or reschedule them according to market demand to meet deadlines.
  • Support spot purchasing for assigned commodities at regional and global levels.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure suppliers are paid on time.
  • Report monthly and quarterly supplier price negotiations based on indexes and/or volumes, new project launches, and related developments.

Johnson Electric reports $3.65B sales, net profit down 23% amid challenging market conditions

Johnson Electric, a global electric motors and motion subsystems manufacturer, reported annual sales of $3.65 billion for the year ended 31 March 2026, up 0.1% year-on-year but down 2% on a constant currency basis. Net profit attributable to shareholders fell 23% to $202 million, whilst adjusted net profit declined 13% to $234 million. The Automotive Products Group, representing 84% of sales, saw revenues decrease 3% on a constant currency basis, impacted by market share erosion among Chinese joint venture customers and sluggish demand in Europe and North America. The Industry Products Group returned to growth with sales up 2%. The company maintained a strong financial position with cash reserves of $902 million and a debt-to-capital ratio of 10%. The board recommended a final dividend of 44 HK cents per share.
