Requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial construction projects ranging in cost from $100,000 to $200 million.
  • Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs across all trades involved in a project.
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications at all levels of design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex estimates and influence project outcomes.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities with the ability to develop team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding the company's operations or bids.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to sit for long periods and perform intermittent movement, including lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment on project sites and in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
  • Foster an environment of strong teamwork, diversity of thought and background, and belonging.
  • Partner with the Director of Preconstruction to lead team initiatives and support overall department performance.
  • Lead, oversee, and actively participate in cost-estimating activities, focusing on complex or high-value projects.
  • Review and validate estimates for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness before client presentation.
  • Create Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Document budgets and estimates.
  • Utilize Procore, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam for estimating activities.
  • Assist with hard-bid and low-bid project assembly and strategy.
  • Approve project proposals and estimate packages before presentation.
  • Lead and contribute to value-engineering efforts to provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Create and review project-specific Basis of Design documentation for presentations and exhibits.
  • Track all projects and estimates in company management software.
  • Attend and participate in project-specific interviews and client presentations.
  • Support Project Managers and Operations teams in preconstruction and project-planning meetings.
  • Identify and implement improvements to estimating processes, tools, and standards.
  • Assist in managing project-estimator assignments, project workflow, and schedule tracking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Visit construction sites occasionally and follow site safety requirements.
