Requirements
  • Graduate from an ARRT-recognized education program, or be ARRT registered or registry eligible, and pass the registry within one year of hire.
  • New Jersey staff must hold a current New Jersey State Radiologic Technologist License through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and be registered before the date of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required within three months of hire.
  • History of computer usage experience is required.
  • Be able to rotate through all areas of diagnostic radiology.
  • Meet the physical requirements of frequent equipment operation, walking or standing for up to eight hours per shift, assisting with lifting and moving patients up to 300 pounds, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and frequent stooping, crouching, bending, and raising the arms above shoulder level.
Responsibilities
  • Properly identify patients and examinations and perform diagnostic radiographic services with maximum patient care while evaluating technical quality.
  • Ensure technical continuity of care and educate patients about radiological procedures.
  • Use the Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System modules appropriate to the job responsibilities.
  • Assist in gathering and recording data for the Radiology Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program.
  • Take responsibility for the assigned area and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Follow downtime procedures accurately to ensure appropriate information is available and continuity of patient care is maintained.
  • Maintain professional development through in-services or continuing education programs and maintain a personal education binder.
  • Provide patients with educational information about their examinations.
  • Complete annual peer review of films to department standards and consider patient condition, history, and relevant information when performing examinations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred.
  • Ongoing training in department procedures is preferred.
