Requirements
  • Requires a Master of Science in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or a Master of Physician Assistant Studies and NCCPA certification as a Physician Assistant in the state of Indiana.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Indiana is required.
  • Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • DEA registration for schedules II-V is required.
  • Trauma-informed care and de-escalation training.
  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar's insurance carrier for positions requiring driving.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical is required.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds; operate office equipment including a computer keyboard; travel using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies, including unpredictable behaviors.
  • Regular and acceptable attendance is required.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality healthcare to patients at the health clinic and residential campus.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals of all ages at Damar Health Services and on the residential campus.
  • Provide primary care, medication management, and consultation services to residential and Health Services patients.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications, including for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team and exchange clinical and medical information with Damar and contracted physicians.
  • Maintain on-call availability as needed.
  • Establish and maintain clinic hours to meet patient needs.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to provide current and effective patient care.
  • Collaborate with internal and external medical providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Conduct training for health services staff as needed.
  • Contribute to policy development, quality improvement, and practice evaluation.
  • Ensure clinical outcomes are met.
  • Oversee patient health records and ensure recordkeeping complies with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain adequate and timely documentation of patient health records.
  • Follow health-related procedures, policies, and operational standards throughout Damar programs.
  • Use materials, equipment, and staff efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide services in a manner sensitive to and respectful of patients' cultural and ethnic diversity.

INDIANAPOLIS - Damar Services, Inc., an Indianapolis-based residential services provider for individuals with developmental disabilities, violated federal law when it refused to hire a deaf applicant, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.
