Responsibilities
  • Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Assist with store operations as required.
  • Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
  • Handle merchandise as directed while maintaining proper categories and colorization.
  • Ensure that the store is sufficiently stocked and ragged out in accordance with the ARC Command Rag Out Calendar.
  • Assist with cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
  • Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
  • Comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
  • Support the work therapy program by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor, Store Supervisor, Assistant Store Supervisor, or Administrator.
  • Comply with cash-handling and security standards for cash register operations, daily sales reports, and bank deposits.
  • Sort, price, stock, and rag out showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
  • Restock fitting-room merchandise on racks by proper category and color code.
  • Maintain merchandise displays as directed.
  • Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Sort a minimum of 300 store-quality garments per hour by department.
  • Assist with moving donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Assist with hanging merchandise as needed.
  • Assist with running clothing racks as needed.
  • Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 clothing pieces per hour on rolling racks by department, correct hanger type, and category.
  • Price a minimum of 250 garments per hour based on style, quality, and condition.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of name-brand merchandise and value.
  • Assist with ticketing merchandise as needed.
  • Place a minimum of 225 garments per hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.
  • Straighten and maintain assigned clothing racks.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
  • Ticket merchandise and assign an individual fair-market price to each item.
  • Place and maintain merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags, and accessory donations daily.
  • Process at least 25 shoes, handbags, or accessory pieces or sets per hour while maintaining the required order and manner.
  • Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required.
  • Process at least 25 linen pieces or sets per hour while maintaining the required order and manner.
  • Sort and clean all saleable books, records, toys, and other merchandise daily as required.
  • Ticket saleable merchandise and assign an individual fair-market price to each item in accordance with established policies.
  • Sort, clean, and test electrical and furniture donations as required.
  • Ticket electrical merchandise using sold-as-is tickets and assign an individual fair-market price.
  • Complete furniture tickets, record required information, and assign a fair-market price to each furniture item.
  • Mark down furniture items on the sales floor in accordance with policy.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks, and parking areas daily.
  • Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous and respectful service to donors.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds as required for donations and maintenance duties.
  • Receive and receipt donated material according to policy in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of donation facilities.
  • Safeguard donated materials and assigned equipment.
  • Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.
  • Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.
  • Bale ragouts and trash as required.
  • Perform lawn and garden work as needed.
