TransUnion shares fell 5.3% to $75.42 on the first full trading day after the credit bureau reported third-quarter 2026 results. Investors focused on margins and debt, despite strong earnings. Revenue rose 12.2% to $1,312.5 million, or 8% on an organic constant currency basis. Net income climbed 61.7% to $156.2 million, and adjusted diluted earnings per share came in at $1.25. TransUnion launches Transaction Matching with Fiserv to identify unknown in-store shoppers

TransUnion has launched Transaction Matching, a tool that links in-store purchases to persistent, privacy-conscious customer identities. It uses Fiserv's Unknown Shopper solution to help merchants recognise shoppers they could not previously identify, such as loyalty members who paid with a new card, or used tap-to-pay or a mobile wallet. Merchants can add demographic and lifestyle insights to pseudonymised profiles, cut duplicate records, and tell new customers from returning ones. Red Lobster is an early user. "Before partnering with TransUnion and Fiserv, a new credit card could look like a new customer, even when it belonged to a loyalty member," said Alisa Stewart, the chain's director of customer relationship management. The launch is the first collaboration under TransUnion's broader Transaction Matching solution.

TransUnion launches first adverse-actionable scores against $2.4B synthetic fraud, debuts on Oscilar

TransUnion has launched Credit Washing and Synthetic Fraud Scores with adverse action capability, which it calls the first of their kind. Lenders can use them to spot synthetic identities and credit washing, and to give consumers reason codes when credit is denied. TransUnion research puts lender exposure to synthetic identity fraud at $2.4 billion as of June 2026. Consumers whose charge-offs were hidden through credit washing are 3.5 times more likely to charge off a new account within a year, and super prime consumers are 10 times more likely. Oscilar, a risk platform serving more than 100 financial institutions, is the first to offer the scores. They run alongside credit decisioning in one workflow, so lenders can cite fraud risk in adverse action notices.

TransUnion launches First Look for mortgage lenders to cut origination costs by reviewing credit insights before purchasing scores

TransUnion has launched First Look Functionality for Mortgage, allowing lenders to review credit insights before purchasing scores. The tool enables mortgage lenders to buy credit reports alone or with their chosen score, then request additional scores only when needed, without incurring the cost of a second report when eligibility conditions are met. The innovation follows TransUnion's extension of 99-cent VantageScore 4.0 mortgage pricing through 2028, with no charge when pulled alongside a FICO Score. Traditional mortgage workflows often require lenders to purchase credit scores early, leading to unnecessary fallout costs. The functionality works with both soft-pull and hard-pull workflows and is compatible with government-sponsored enterprises and Federal Housing Administration automated underwriting systems. It's available through mortgage resellers without requiring changes to existing selling guidelines or policies.
