About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of hands-on safety engineering experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive safety under ISO 26262, aerospace safety under DO-178C or DO-254, or industrial safety under IEC 61508.
  • Prior background working with autonomous driving systems or mobile robotics.
  • Proven ability to work under the technical mentorship of a Principal Safety Engineer in a high-velocity agile engineering team.
  • A B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of software development or software safety experience in C++, Python, or ROS/ROS2 environments.
  • Deep understanding of software safety lifecycles, ASIL decomposition for software, unit and integration test strategies, and static analysis tools.
  • Hands-on experience analyzing autonomous vehicle software pipelines, including perception, planning, and fail-safe state machines.
Responsibilities
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessments (HARA, FMEA, FTA, and STPA) on the autonomous software architecture and vehicle operation concepts.
  • Derive, specify, and trace functional and technical safety requirements for supervised autonomy with a safety driver present and unsupervised driverless autonomy.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, robotics, hardware, and test teams to ensure safety requirements are integrated, testable, and verified.
  • Assist in building safety case artifacts and verification evidence required for airport commercial deployment.
  • Conduct software hazard and safety analyses on perception, motion planning, localization, and vehicle control modules according to ISO 26262-6 and SOTIF (ISO 21448).
  • Execute software FMEA/FTA, freedom-from-interference analysis, and code-level hazard evaluations.
  • Derive Software Safety Requirements (SSRs) and define monitoring and fail-safe mechanisms within multi-core and Linux/RTOS software environments.
  • Review safety-critical C++/Python code and robotics middleware with development teams to ensure software safety standards are met.
  • Develop Safety Performance Indicators to measure safety performance over time.

About the company

AeroVect builds digital software solutions for the aviation industry. Its platform, based on JavaScript, is used to deliver web and mobile applications and data-driven tools for aviation customers such as airlines, airports, and related businesses. The product likely runs as a web-based service or subscription, enabling users to access, customize, and deploy aviation-focused software and analytics from a browser or app. Unlike general software firms, AeroVect targets aviation-specific workflows and data needs, leveraging a JavaScript-based platform to offer scalable digital products and possibly professional services like custom development or data analysis. The company’s goal is to help aviation stakeholders manage software, data, and operations more efficiently by providing practical digital solutions that can be deployed and consumed through a cloud-based platform.

What believers are saying

  • AeroVect raised debt on April 30, 2026, after its September 2024 Series A.
  • Its careers page updated August 6, 2026, showing active hiring and expansion.
  • Point One's August 19, 2025 partnership improves positioning precision for autonomous runway operations.

What critics are saying

  • Revenue depends on slow airport procurement; pilots with GAT and dnata still validate.
  • OEMs and incumbents can bundle GSE autonomy into fleet contracts.
  • A fatal airside incident would halt deployments, trigger lawsuits, and crush trust.

What makes AeroVect unique

  • OEM-agnostic AeroVect Driver retrofits existing GSE, avoiding fleet replacement.
  • It focuses on airside autonomy, where aircraft crossings and ramp safety dominate.
  • AeroVect claims the largest airside driving dataset and most live-production miles.
