Buf.build provides a platform designed for API development, focusing on technologies like Protobuf, gRPC, and Kafka. Its main product, the Buf Schema Registry (BSR), allows teams to manage and collaborate on Protobuf schemas across different repositories, making it easier to work on the foundational elements of their software. This platform includes features such as API discovery, documentation browsing, and code generation management, which help streamline the development process. A key feature is the breaking change detection, which alerts teams to potential backward-incompatible changes before they affect production, minimizing the risk of outages. Buf.build differentiates itself from competitors by offering a comprehensive suite of tools that enhance collaboration and efficiency in API development. The company's goal is to simplify and improve the API development experience for tech teams of all sizes.
