Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of golf course operations practices and procedures acquired through two to three years of similar golf course maintenance experience in progressively responsible positions.
  • Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices, particularly the storage, mixing, and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Nevada Pesticides License.
  • A valid Certified Applicator's License registered in the same state as the golf course operation is required.
  • Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds and lift, pull, or push items up to or over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and adjust visual focus for close, depth, color, distance, and peripheral vision.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties and tasks relative to the Application Technician position.
  • Maintain logs for the operation, maintenance, and gas usage of each piece of application equipment.
  • Keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe.
  • Clean application equipment after each use.
  • Inspect application equipment and report deficiencies to the Equipment Manager.
  • Perform application activities as directed by the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent I or II.
  • Record and maintain product application records and files for product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Establish and maintain inventory levels for all turf care products.
  • Keep application equipment calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Follow federal, state, and local regulations and internal policies for turf-care product use, storage, cleanup, disposal, spill containment, mixing and loading, application, and safety.
  • Read, understand, and interpret product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets for each product used in Golf Course Maintenance Operations.
  • Wear personal protective clothing and use protective equipment as required by safety standards and product labels, and ensure assisting staff do the same.
  • Perform special projects and other assigned duties.
  • Work shifts as necessary based on business levels.
