Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience in billing, collections, accounts receivable or payable, bookkeeping, or legal work is preferred.
  • Experience reading or reconciling invoices, statements, or ledgers is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with insurance terminology, including explanations of benefits, claims, and co-pays, is beneficial but not required.
  • Comfort working with numbers, invoices, or basic bookkeeping is beneficial.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms is required.
  • The ability to advocate strongly for clients when dealing with insurance representatives or medical providers is required.
  • Confidence and motivation to exceed expectations are required.
  • Professional attire and demeanor are required.
  • A desire to learn, develop, and motivate team members is required.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and adapt in a rapidly changing environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Attend the firm-wide huddle every Monday at 8:00 AM.
  • Attend daily team mini huddles Tuesday through Friday at 8:00 AM.
  • Attend biweekly meetings with the Team Lead prepared with supporting data to review individual metrics and create biweekly goals.
  • Open all subrogation claims within 14 days of the signed retainer.
  • Submit Med Pay and health insurance information to all treating providers within 30 days of being retained.
  • Submit Med Pay and health insurance information to all treating providers within 15 days when providers are updated by the Case Manager.
  • Request final health insurance and Med Pay ledgers within 7 days of the client finishing treatment and moving to Prep.
  • Verify all required outstanding medical balances within 7 days when a case moves into negotiations.
  • Verify outstanding medical balances within 5 days of a case being settled.
  • Maintain a biweekly activity level of at least 1,000 in SmartAdvocate.
  • Ensure overdue tasks never exceed 60.
  • Follow up with providers after providing Med Pay and health insurance information to ensure bills are submitted properly to the appropriate carrier.
  • Maintain accurate records of bills, payments, adjustments, and remaining balances to facilitate negotiating discounts by disbursement staff, paralegals, and attorneys.
  • Coordinate benefits with available insurance, including Med Pay, health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits, and other federal and state programs.
  • Open claims and submit necessary documents for Medicare and Tricare benefits.
  • Maintain the client's Medicare portal.
  • Answer incoming calls through the First Call Group.
  • Monitor dashboard metrics and key performance indicators and work to maintain them.
  • Follow and maintain all firm policies and procedures.
