Requirements
  • A Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited school or equivalent.
  • Completion of an advanced education program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited program.
  • Certification or active pursuit of certification by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Ability to obtain an Oregon dental license.
  • Ability to obtain an Oregon general anesthesia permit.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required; new hires must complete the OHSU training course during onboarding.
Responsibilities
  • Provide services assigned by the supervisor in support of the university’s teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service missions.
  • Oversee and teach predoctoral students, the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery intern, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residents in the dental school and OHSU hospital facilities.
  • Participate in didactic education for predoctoral and resident learners in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, including seminars, lectures, and course directorship.
  • Establish and maintain a research or scholarly activity program.
  • Participate in administrative committees and councils of the School of Dentistry and Oregon Health & Science University as approved by the Chair.
  • Participate in professionally related public service activities on behalf of the department and School of Dentistry as required.
  • Participate in department strategic planning activities as directed.
  • Hold an administrative role and potentially a faculty practice role within the RLSB Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery clinic.
  • Provide patient care and oversight of learners in the OHSU hospital clinic and operating room.
  • Share call coverage among Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery faculty.
  • Work generally during scheduled clinic hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional deviations as necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery certificate with a Doctor of Medicine degree is preferred.
