The Autonomy Early Access Program will open in December to all owners with an active Autonomy+ subscription who apply. Access is restricted to a limited group, currently only in California and Florida. Rivian prepares to debut more advanced features for its Autonomy+ driver assist system, which is currently offered exclusively on Gen-2 R1 vehicles and on the R2. The most exciting among them is Point-to-Point, which should close the gap with Tesla FSD. Point-to-Point builds on the Universal Hands-Free capability and integrates it directly into the route navigation. With Point-to-Point, the vehicle will follow the active turn-by-turn directions in the navigation regardless of the road type. This should take you safely from the driveway to your destination, under your supervision, of course. Many have been skeptical of Rivian's ability to develop in-house autonomous driving capabilities. Still, the EV startup is confident it could start rolling out Point-to-Point by the end of the year. The moment is crucial, as the company has a reputation for sticking to announced timelines.
