Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • An active Top Secret security clearance with an SSBI/Tier 5 investigation is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related technical field is required.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience with Python is required.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience with PyTorch or another machine learning/deep learning framework is required.
  • Extensive experience training customized state-of-the-art artificial intelligence models on real-world datasets is required.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, numerical methods, and algorithm design is required.
  • Experience developing software in a Unix/Linux environment is required.
  • The ability to work under minimal supervision is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Support end-to-end model development, including architecture selection, training, evaluation, and iteration against mission problems from feasibility prototype to production candidate.
  • Design and run rigorous experiments, including baselines, ablations, and held-out evaluation, with clear reporting that supports program decisions.
  • Package and deploy models into operational environments and improve them through continual data acquisition.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to support data selection, preprocessing, curation, and extract, transform, and load of relevant datasets for artificial intelligence and machine learning development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience with self-supervised pretraining and downstream adaptation, transfer learning, generative models, and transformers.
  • Experience with multi-GPU and distributed training, including PyTorch Distributed Data Parallel or Fully Sharded Data Parallel and shared cluster resources such as Slurm, Kubernetes, and Run:ai.
  • Experience with experiment tracking and data/model versioning for reproducibility using MLflow, Weights & Biases, or DVC.
  • Experience across deep learning domains, including natural language processing, computer vision, and time-series data.
  • Familiarity with other machine learning/deep learning frameworks and libraries, including PyTorch Lightning, TensorFlow, Keras, fastai, and scikit-learn.
  • Comfort working in restricted or air-gapped development environments.
  • A master's or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
