Requirements
  • One year of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience with patient transport is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt and safe transport of patients throughout the hospital facility.
  • Assist nursing staff with transferring patients to and from beds, stretchers, and chairs.
  • Connect and disconnect oxygen under the direction of nursing staff.
  • Maintain and clean stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Transport patients between units, including newly admitted and discharged patients.
  • Respond to transport tasks with the required equipment, such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and oxygen tanks, and return equipment to the storage area afterward.
  • Provide transportation services and assistance during disaster situations.
  • Transport specimens from patient areas to laboratories as requested.
  • Communicate with Resource Center team leaders and follow task assignments through INTERSERV Software and the Page System.
  • Respond to pages within the established timeframe.
  • Log in and out and complete task records for each shift through the INTERSERV PeopleCom System.
  • Attend required department and hospital in-service orientation sessions and meetings.
  • Follow BronxCare Health System and regulatory safety procedures, including NFPA, FPA, OSHA, JCAHO, federal, New York State, and New York City requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and other information and perform all tasks and communications confidentially.
