Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree plus a current Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and at least 50 hours of recreational, training, or commercial unmanned aircraft systems operating flight hours logged; or an Associate of Applied Science degree in Unmanned Aircraft Systems plus a current Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and at least 50 hours of recreational, training, or commercial unmanned aircraft systems operating flight hours logged; or 2,000 hours, defined as two semesters, of verified full-time experience teaching unmanned aircraft systems-related coursework.
  • Hold or qualify for a post-secondary vocational credential in Aviation Technology issued by the Aims Community College Career and Technical Education Office.
  • Successfully pass a motor vehicle record review and be insurable under Aims insurance because the position requires use of a company vehicle for business travel.
  • Submit a resume, cover letter, Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, and copies of transcripts.
  • Upon hire, submit academic transcripts from an accredited institution; foreign credentials require an evaluation from an accepted credential-evaluation service.
  • Provide documents within three days of hire to demonstrate identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check and any applicable industry-specific screening, including a motor vehicle review, physical examination, or drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct unmanned aircraft systems ground content, flight training, field applications, and/or engineering courses during day and/or evening classes.
  • Assist in developing and modifying curriculum to meet changing technology in the unmanned aircraft systems industry, including textbook selection and development of new courses.
  • Participate in student evaluations, advising, registration, and recruiting and retention activities.
  • Participate in department, division, and college activities while complying with college and Federal Aviation Administration policies, procedures, and mandates.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current in professional areas.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Department’s Executive Director or Academic Dean.
  • Collaborate on departmental and college governance initiatives and design course materials to meet industry standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree in Unmanned Aerial Systems or an aviation-related field.
  • High-level computer skills.
