Requirements
  • Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
  • The role accepts licensed new graduates.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
  • Current First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification obtained within the past 12 months.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • The role requires community visits and may serve pediatric clients in home or school settings and adults with medical or health concerns.
Responsibilities
  • Provide community visits to assess individuals' abilities and needs.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate client function.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team consisting of healthcare workers and other community resources.
  • Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement issues.
  • Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect a client-centered approach related to physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environments.
  • Apply effective and evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
  • Engage clients collaboratively by building rapport and trust and achieving mutual understanding and agreement regarding services.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective services across areas of practice by keeping abreast of changes affecting scope of practice.
  • Maintain professional client records concerning client encounters and plans in compliance with ParaMed policies and applicable regulatory or Occupational Therapy College standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Pediatrics experience is an asset.
  • ADP authorization is preferred.
