Requirements
  • A Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited university or community college clinical program is required.
  • A license in the state where care is provided, North Carolina or South Carolina, is required.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • North Carolina licensure and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or eligibility to begin the Clinical Fellowship Year, are required.
  • Graduate practicums in a medical setting are required.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and speech procedures is required.
  • Ability to manipulate patient care equipment, including modalities and assistive devices, is required.
  • Ability to properly transfer and guard patients is required.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and positively with the public, coworkers, patients, families, and physicians is required.
  • Ability to perform significant locomotion, frequent lifting greater than 50 pounds, and patient transfers greater than 100 pounds is required.
  • Ability to apply rehabilitation clinical principles and professional reasoning to develop appropriate treatment programs is required.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and learn new skills and patient-care techniques is required.
  • Ability to learn and use computer technology and supportive services is required.
  • Ability to see and communicate clearly to perform basic clinical techniques is required.
  • Adequate hearing for speech discrimination is required.
  • A valid driver's license and operational vehicle are required.
  • Availability for 40-hour workweeks with variable Monday-through-Friday hours, weekends, and holidays as needed is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized patient care throughout the adult and geriatric lifespan according to established policies, procedures, guidelines, patient age, and diagnosis.
  • Assess, interpret, plan, implement, and evaluate patients using an appropriate level of skill.
  • Provide patient consultation and communicate with other professionals.
  • Participate in program development, student programs, and performance improvement programs.
  • Assist with program development and discipline-specific operations.
  • Communicate and document information according to agency policies, procedures, and discipline-specific guidelines.
  • Contribute to program effectiveness.
  • Organize and perform work effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain and adjust the schedule to enhance agency performance.
  • Maintain and promote customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate the agency's mission, vision, and values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Well Care Health has appointed Sheila Ellison as Vice President of IT. Family-owned and -operated, Well Care Health has delivered five-star quality home healthcare to patients across North Carolina and South Carolina for more than 38 years. With locations in Wilmington, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, and Myrtle Beach, the organization serves more than 45 counties and a patient census of approximately 5,000. Through its Home Health and Hospice divisions, Well Care continues its mission of keeping communities healthy, happy, and at home, supported by a distinctive culture known as the "Well Care Way." In this role, Sheila Ellison will lead the strategic direction of technology across the Home Health and Hospice agency, ensuring alignment with clinical, financial, and regulatory priorities. She will oversee the organization's managed services partnership, drive digital transformation initiatives, and ensure strong data security and compliance to support continued growth and high-quality patient care. Sheila is a great placement as the new Vice President of IT. Sheila Ellison brings extensive experience in healthcare technology and digital transformation. Most recently, she served as Principal of Digital Transformation & Technology Strategy at SE Medical Consulting, advising health systems on IT strategy, AI adoption, and enterprise transformation initiatives. Prior to this, she held leadership roles at Tidelands Health, including Head of IT Innovation & Operations, where she led enterprise digital initiatives across a multi-hospital system. Earlier in her career, she held roles spanning consulting, operations, and business development across healthcare and technology organizations. Sheila holds a Master of Health Information Technology from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Management Science from the Darla Moore School of Business.
