People news: HNTB, Cummins. Joe Fazio joins HNTB as Business Development Director in New Jersey. Also, Cummins appoints James Hopkins as Vice President - Financial Planning, Capital Management and Investor Relations. HNTB has named Joe Fazio, PE, DBIA, Business Development Director and Vice President for its New Jersey offices in Parsippany. Fazio returns to HNTB after serving as a Senior Vice President with another consulting firm. He brings more than 27 years of transportation industry experience in program management, business operations, client relationships and alternative project delivery. He previously spent more than a decade with HNTB, including three years as the Mid-Atlantic Division's Delivery Officer overseeing operations for clients across the region. In his new role, Fazio will work with clients and partners across New Jersey to build relationships, identify opportunities and align pursuits with HNTB's priorities. "Joe understands our clients, our industry and HNTB's culture, and that makes him well positioned to help us grow in New Jersey and across the region," said Jacob Argiro, PE, New Jersey Office Leader and Vice President at HNTB. "His leadership experience, relationships and record delivering complex transportation programs will be valuable as agencies address infrastructure needs and evaluate innovative solutions." Fazio has worked on design-build and public-private partnership projects spanning transit, rail, highway and bridge markets. His experience includes aligning technical teams, client objectives and delivery strategies on major transportation initiatives. He holds bachelor's degrees in civil/structural engineering and architectural engineering from Drexel University and a master's degree in civil/structural engineering from Villanova University. He is a licensed professional engineer and Design-Build Institute of America-certified professional. Cummins Inc. has appointed James Hopkins to the newly created role of Vice President - Financial Planning, Capital Management and Investor Relations, effective Sept. 1, 2026. Hopkins will lead the company's financial planning, forecasting, target-setting, internal reporting and analysis activities. He also will oversee capital expenditures and investor engagement and work with business segment controllers and finance teams to support financial performance and long-term strategic priorities. "Throughout his career, James has demonstrated strong financial leadership, broad business knowledge and a deep commitment to developing people," said Cummins Vice President and CFO Mark Smith. "His experience across finance, strategy, investor relations and operations, combined with his strong relationships with investors and other stakeholders, make him exceptionally well suited for this role." Hopkins currently serves as Vice President - Engine Business Finance & Strategy, where he supports one of Cummins' core businesses. During his Cummins career, he has held roles spanning finance, strategy, investor relations and operations. Hopkins holds an MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Economics and Public Policy from Indiana University.

Kelli McNamara named Indiana office leader at HNTB. In her new role, McNamara will oversee operations, strategic growth and client service for the firm's Indiana office. Since joining HNTB two years ago as Indiana business development director, McNamara has played a central role in strengthening the firm's presence across the state. "Kelli has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with relationships first," said Eric Morris, president of HNTB's Great Lakes Division. "She brings a deep understanding of the Indiana market, a strategic mindset and a genuine commitment to developing people. We're excited for the impact she will continue to make as office leader." People news from IANA, TNW and HNTB. The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) will present Sam Niness, former president of Triple Crown Services, with the 2026 Silver Kingpin Award during Intermodal EXPO, to be held Sept. 14-16 in Long Beach, California. The Silver Kingpin is the industry's most prestigious award, which recognizes long-term contributions to intermodalism, IANA officials said in a press release. Niness started his over 40-year intermodal career with Chemical Leaman before joining Conrail Direct, where he supported the transition to Thoroughbred Direct Intermodal Services (TDIS). After a stint at WebModal, he returned to TDIS and was promoted to president in 2016. Niness oversaw the integration of TDIS and Triple Crown Services, which formally rebranded in April 2024. Additionally, Niness was a founding board member of the Transportation Intermediaries Association and has been involved with IANA. Previous Silver Kingpin award winners include Katie Farmer, BNSF Railway's president and CEO; Joni Casey, IANA's former CEO; Larry Gross, the president and founder of Gross Transportation Consulting; Ted Prince, co-founder of and chief strategy officer for Tiger Cool Express and a former IANA chair; Clarence Gooden, formerly CSX's executive VP and chief commercial officer; and Frank Richter, Progressive Railroading's co-founder who died in 2013. TNW Corp. on June 2 appointed Daniel Blank vice president of sales and marketing; Joey Evans, senior director of government affairs and business development; and Jeremiah Klun, director of safety, environmental and training. Blank joined TNW in 2024 following more than 15 years at Union Pacific Railroad. He will oversee strategic sales and marketing initiatives, TNW officials said in a press release. Evans joined TNW in 2017 as director of customer success and brings more than 21 years of rail-industry experience to his new role. He will lead public sector engagement, legislative strategy and real estate development activities. Klun joins TNW from UP, where he held roles in safety field operations, operating practices and technical training. He will lead the advancement of TNW's safety initiatives and provide employee training and regulatory compliance. HNTB has named Jacob Argiro lead for the company's New Jersey office and Anne Sheahan lead for the Illinois office. Argiro served as officer leader for HTNB's Connecticut office for the past six years. In New Jersey, he will work closely with HNTB clients, including the New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey Turnpike Authority and New Jersey Transit, HNTB officials said in a press release. Sheahan joined HNTB in 2021 and has helped strengthen the firm's presence with Chicago-area public agencies and stakeholders. She has spent more than 20 years working for the city of Chicago in leadership roles.
