Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience working with children, such as academic or athletic tutoring, camp counseling, or youth volunteering.
  • Cross country, track, or youth running coaching experience, or competitive running experience at the high school or collegiate level (1–5 years minimum).
  • A fingerprint-based criminal background check (Live Scan), child abuse clearance, mandated reporter training, and current CPR/First Aid certification are required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately in writing and orally with children, parents, peers, leadership, and the larger community.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, implement company curriculum, and work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to run alongside students and demonstrate running technique, respond to emergencies that may require running and climbing stairs, and maintain the physical condition needed to perform the role.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise students and provide running-specific coaching and instruction in a safe, fun learning environment while serving as a positive role model.
  • Provide daily running and cross country instruction and coaching to students ages 4–14 with different ability levels.
  • Teach proper running form, warm-ups, stretching, pacing, and breathing, and explain the principles behind them.
  • Lead age-appropriate workouts, running games, relays, and time trials that build endurance gradually and safely.
  • Observe and assess student performance, track progress and personal bests, and provide feedback on improvement.
  • Plan and supervise safe running routes on school grounds, keeping all students visible and accounted for.
  • Monitor weather, heat, and hydration, and adjust activity intensity as needed.
  • Supervise groups of students, attending to behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development.
  • Ensure the safety of students and team members.
  • Organize and prepare daily plans in a fun and creative manner.
  • Use effective classroom management to lead activities and create an inclusive, enjoyable environment.
  • Work effectively with fellow Activity Specialists and collaborate on daily responsibilities.
  • Follow the Impact Kids Code of Conduct, maintain the Impact Kids look, exhibit company core values, and adhere to company policies.
